Camping Coffee Percolators
Camping Coffee Percolators
Camping and coffee …. I have an old-fashioned coffee pot type used for camping?
I'm used to the new type coffee maker …. How much time do I leave the coffee … infiltrate into the fire??? I have a good cup of coffee.
Put enough water in the pot to fill to just below the basket. There is usually a mark on the outside (and inside) the pot marked this level and indicates how many cups will be .. Put the basket and mother in the pot and add a teaspoon of coffee by the cup of water. I usually add just one extra spoonful 'for the pot. " (There are some people that is added a pinch of salt or an eggshell to drink away the sour taste. You may want to wait on this until you learn to use the pot.) There must be a cover for put in the basket to distribute water that is filtered. Place the pot in a hot fire and keep an eye on it as it warms. When the water is hot enough to start boiling in the pot, as evidenced by the bubbling water in the glass door at the top. At this point, move the boat to the outer edge of the chimney to allow the water to boil and keep bubbling in the glass. This little bit of boiling water will pass through the mother and went to the top of the basket. Leaving the pot on the hot fire, boiled water at a rate too fast and that will cause water (and coffee) through the pot overflow spout. Once you move the pot, let the beer and for almost seven minutes. That's the time I use it. Take pan from heat and let the grounds settle a couple of minutes, then remove the basket (with care as it could be warm) and discard reasons. Do not attempt to reuse them a second time! If you like your coffee stronger or weaker, adjust time up or down, then, a little at a time until it is perfect. I suggest you try some boats at home to try and learn. Other campers were jealous when the aroma of fresh coffee brewing blasts through the area!
